IMPROVE COMMUTING ON ROUTE 1

Posted 09/26/2012

Do you live or commute around Quantico?  If so, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) wants your help to improve safety and mobility on Route 1.

The U.S. 1 / Quantico Planning / Preliminary Engineering Study focuses on a 6-mile section of Route 1 from Joplin/Fuller south to Telegraph Road at Boswell's Corner.  In early October, the public is invited to hear recommendations to improve travel in the area and to review and discuss draft conceptual plans of potential road and intersection improvements.

The public meeting will be held:

Tuesday, October 9, 2012, 6 - 8 p.m.

(presentation at 6:30 p.m.)

Hilldrup Moving & Storage

4022 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Stafford, VA

Those who require special assistance to attend the meeting should call 703-674-1300 or TDD 711 no later than October 5th.

The public also can review materials online and provide comments no later than October 26, 2012.

This study is being conducted by the FHWA, Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division, in cooperation with Stafford County, Prince William County and the Virginia Department of Transportation.

The FHWA is also involved in a second study that focuses more specifically on the intersection at Telegraph Road at Boswell's Corner leading to the Marine Corps Base Quantico's Westside gate.  FHWA is coordinating with the associated regulatory agencies to complete these studies on related, but independent schedules.
