Based on the latest National Weather Service report, PRTC's Snow
Emergency Service Plan, ESP, (including Snow Emergency routing) will be
in effect for ALL PRTC bus services on the morning of Wednesday, January
28. Rides on ALL PRTC buses will be FREE.
If weather and road conditions are predicted to improve by the
afternoon, PRTC may resume operating regularly scheduled service for
OmniRide, Metro Direct and Cross County Connector bus services. To find
out if the ESP is still in effect for Wednesday afternoon service,
please:
* Check your e-mail for a Rider Express advisory
* Visit our website and look for a special service alert at
www.PRTCtransit.org
* Call for a recorded message at 703-730-6664,and/or
* Watch/listen for announcements on local TV stations and WTOP radio
OMNIRIDE passengers are encouraged to park at commuter park and ride
lots. Buses will take passengers to either the Franconia-Springfield or
West Falls Church Metro stations, where they can transfer to Metrorail
to reach their destination, with the reverse in effect for the return
trip. Passengers transferring to Metrorail will be required to pay the
Metrorail fare.
METRO DIRECT buses will operate according to published schedules;
however, road conditions may cause delays.
OmniRide and Metro Direct bus service during winter weather events is
dependent on Metrorail serving its above-ground stations. If Metro is
expected to stop service in the morning, OmniRide and Metro Direct
service may be cancelled for the entire day. If Metro service is
suspended midday, OmniRide and Metro Direct service will operate until
picking up passengers from the final Metro train.
OMNILINK OFF-ROUTE TRIPS ARE CANCELLED FOR TODAY. OmniLink will remain
on ESP all day. OmniLink buses will stop at all signed PRTC bus stops
except those noted in the Snow Emergency Plan
(www.PRTCtransit.org/myprtc/esp.php) .
CROSS COUNTY CONNECTOR buses will operate according to the published
schedule; however, road conditions may cause delays.
For complete details of PRTC's Snow Emergency Service Plan, visit
www.PRTCtransit.org/myprtc/esp.php.
Additional updates will be sent as needed.
For service on Thursday, you can expect buses to operate regular service
unless a new ESP message is sent out.
